Anne Thomasen

Curator, Malmö Art Museum

Biography

Anne Thomasen (she/her) works as a freelance curator critically engaging with spaces and contexts from intersectional feminist, queer, and decolonizing perspectives. Her academic background in visual culture, art history, gender studies, and digital theory has accumulated into a specific interest in the crossroads between visual art, social science, and institutional change.

Thomasen has worked institutionally and independently on international art projects such as ‘Sustainable Societies for the Future’ (US/SE), ‘A Space Where Your Voices can Live’ (SE/DK), and ‘The Biennale for Craft & Design 2023’ (DK) in collaboration with a wide range of interdisciplinary practitioners. She co-founded the ‘Museum Why’ network that questions and experiments with the potentials of the future art institution. As editor and writer, she has contributed with both creative and critical writing to a number of articles, catalogues, and publications on contemporary art and culture.

Currently, Thomasen works with Malmö Art Museum as curator as well as independently on art projects in Denmark and abroad.
